PaperCut turns 20 this month! And, as you might expect at this moment of our company life, we’ve gotten all sentimental and introspective. So strap in and enjoy a wander back through the archives!
First, a look at what PaperCut looked like back in the day. Turns out, it looked mighty fine (if you enjoy the whole clip art vibe):
The first iteration of the website had a similar cutting edge stylistic feel about it:
And finally the software itself. Classic lines, earth colors, photo-realistic imagery:
In our defence, here’s Google’s logo from around the same period:
So what’s PaperCut achieved in its 20 years?
Probably my favorite number is 730,738,290. That’s how many sheets of paper the world’s saved using PaperCut over the last 20 years. It’s probably double that, but Jeremy our data guy’s Captain Conservative when it comes to numbers (I think it’s more like 1,000,000,000+ between you and me).
A couple of other fun numbers:
1st PaperCut user = 14 December 1998
90,000,000 PaperCut user - sometime in May 2018
And how’s this for nostalgia - co-founder Chris Dance launching the PaperCut “Weblog” in 2004 !
Here are some of the eccentric goodies we’ve shared with our beloved ecosystem of Authorized Solution Centers and resellers, including stuffed koalas, clappers, and co-founder-shaped cookies:
And finally, here’s a pic from the first conference PaperCut exhibited at. It was 2010 in Toronto, Canada. Also the company’s first polo shirt. That’s Chris’s dad John Dance spreading the PaperCut word!
I’m thrilled to be a small part of these past 20 years, and look forward to the next 20 and the next 20 after that.
