Overview

The future of cloud-based print enablement for Ricoh MFDs is here! The all-new PaperCut Hive Printer App for Ricoh delivers a faster, more streamlined experience — and it’s nearly ready for all customers.

The app has already undergone extensive testing and is now with Ricoh for certification. Once certified — estimated mid-April — it will be available to all PaperCut Hive customers using Ricoh MFDs.

The new PaperCut Hive Printer App for Ricoh is a major refresh that makes setting up, managing, and using cloud-based print management smoother than ever.

This feature includes:

  • Full Native Function Tracking: Monitor copy, scan, fax, and USB activity.
  • Future-Ready: Built to support upcoming PaperCut Hive features like Cloud Pull Printing and Print Quotas.

How it works

Installation

Once available, system-admins can easily install the PaperCut Hive Printer App for Ricoh using One-Click Installation.

  1. Log in to the PaperCut Hive admin interface.
  2. Navigate to Printers > Apps > Full Embedded App.
  3. Enter your Ricoh MFD admin credentials.
  4. Click Install.

The app installs the binary, configures service program settings, and restarts the device automatically.

Wait for the thumbs up confirmation screen, and you’re ready to go!

Tip: Installation time varies depending on the MFD model — some devices may take longer to reboot.

Day-to-Day User Experience

Once installed, users can:

  • Log in using their preferred authentication method (PIN, ID card, or mobile app).
  • Release print jobs with thumbnail previews.
  • Scan to cloud storage with custom metadata fields.
  • Access full native MFD functions with tracking enabled.

One-click installation simplifies setting up the Ricoh Printer App by automating the entire configuration process. It installs the app, configures device settings, and restarts the device — all in one go. Just log into the PaperCut Hive admin interface, enter the MFD’s admin credentials, and let PaperCut Hive handle the rest.

Which Ricoh devices are supported?

The app works on Ricoh MFDs running SmartSDK v2.12 or higher. Devices also need an assigned IP address, internet access, and outbound SSL/TLS traffic on port 443. See the manual for the full list of supported models and prerequisites.

What should I do if One-Click Installation fails?

If installation doesn’t complete successfully, check: The device has an active client connection for initial installation. The printer’s username and password are correct (including case sensitivity). The printer has SmartSDK v2.12 or higher installed. If you're still having trouble, reach out to PaperCut Support with your logs.
