Baptist Health Care (BHC) is a community-owned, notfor-profit health care organization operating in Florida since 1951.
With an infrastructure including 7,000+users, three hospitals, and four medical parks, their printing demands were vast.
Sysadmin Kenny Stranger was tasked with finding a print management solution that would simplify their printing network, cut costs, and ensure secure printing for sensitive patient health information.
Problem
Baptist Health Care’s print environment required a revamp for an increase in workflow productivity and reduce costs. The key priority was implementing a print management solution with medical industry-standard security protocols.
“There was the goal to bring down costs, but also to increase privacy,” says Kenny Stranger, Baptist Health Care’s system administrator. “In the health industry, privacy’s everything, so that was a key factor in selecting a print management system.”

“We have federal laws relating to privacy. Secure Print Release and Find-Me printing have really made stakeholders more confident in the level of security we provide.”
“Before, you could walk up to a clinical floor and see a stack of paper with personal information sitting at the printer. You don’t see that anymore [with Secure Print Release],” says Kenny.
Secure Print Release didn’t just boost BHC’s security, it also reduced their paper waste. Automation tools allowed Kenny’s team to set a time limit on print actions, uncollected jobs now get deleted from the queue after a certain amount of time.
Outcome
PaperCut improved BHC’s security, delivered considerable savings, and provided a simple and convenient workflow for their printing environments.
BHC didn’t just record a massive reduction in their print budget, the rollout with PaperCut also provided heightened reporting and visibility, resulting in more empowered individual departments: “I was asked to report on the cost savings [of PaperCut], which was a real ‘wow’ moment. It was one of the first times we properly looked at the financial impact," Kenny says. “There were millions saved.”
