What is Cloud Delivery?

THE PAGE APPLIES TO:

Cloud Delivery is a method for delivering a print job directly to a printer. Rather than the job being routed through the local PaperCut client software, the printer pulls the print job data directly from the Cloud. This simplifies the print path by removing the client as a variable in the success of a print job.

Why is Cloud Delivery important?

Currently PaperCut Hive and Pocket have two fantastic features, Autopilot and Print Delivery Profiles , that allow the admin to choose how print jobs get delivered:

  • Autopilot lets PaperCut automatically determine the best route via clients.
  • Print Delivery Profiles allow the admin to specify specific clients or networks clients reside in, for a printer to use.

Cloud Delivery will offer a third option that will allow the admin to completely remove clients from the print path, or alternatively, leave them as a backup as required. It will enable the admin to have complete control over how a print job reaches the printer.

As a potential scenario, you may have a Zero Trust environment where no client can talk to the printer. With Cloud Delivery, you can leave these environments entirely segmented, and allow the printer to pull the job directly from the Cloud.

Sounds great! Where is it?

The PaperCut Development Team is hard at work in the discovery & development phase for this feature. At PaperCut, the customer experience is extremely important to us and we want to provide a Cloud Delivery experience that does not impact our current offerings in any way.

After the first release in Q1 2025, we will release Cloud Delivery for more brands as the year progresses.

With the complexity and requirements for Cloud Delivery, each brand has unique technical challenges that we need to deeply understand and overcome to offer the best, simplest solution for our customers. This takes time, and we are hard at work on it! Cloud Delivery is a highly requested feature, and it has been prioritized accordingly. We are dedicated to making the experience meet the very high standards our customers expect of PaperCut.
